About Me

Hi, I’m Baash.
I call them excerpts. That is how writing started for me in my teenage years, after my first heartbreak. I remember sitting in the corner of a twelve by twelve room on a foreign island, listening to Back to December by Taylor Swift. I did not know what to do with the ache in my chest, so I wrote. Not poems, not essays, just fragments. Excerpts of what I was living through.
Even before that, I grew up reading Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, and John Grisham. Their stories showed me that words could stir emotions I had not yet lived. They woke something in me. They made me want to write what I felt, even if I did not yet have the language for it.
I created driftletters because words have always been my way of breathing. I wrote quietly at first, just for myself. Now I share these fragments with anyone who might need a little softness in their day.
I live in the Maldives, where I work in hospitality. My days are spent welcoming people, listening to their stories, and carrying a few of my own in silence. Outside of work I am drawn to perfumes, travel, music, and the little moments that do not make it into photos but linger in memory.

driftletters is my journal made public. Not polished, not rushed, but shared slowly. Here you will find excerpts, poems, scent diaries, reflections from the road, and whispers from work.

Thank you for reading, for being here, and for letting these words drift into your world.
